Our Mission

CHALLENGING MYTHS - CHANGING LIVES

Our mission is to help children build confidence by overcoming communication and feeding challenges so they can achieve their goals. We use a play-based, family-supported approach and up-to-date, evidence-based therapy techniques.

Our practice was founded because we saw a need in our community and wanted to help families break two common myths:

  • Toddlers at two and three years old are “too little to talk.”

  • Growing up in bilingual environments “confuses” children.

The research is clear: by approximately three years of age, children worldwide should acquire the milestones to speak the language(s) spoken to them, regardless of complexity (Gleason & Ratner, 2012).

We specialize in early intervention services for babies and toddlers from birth through 3 years of age. This is the primary focus and core of our practice. We also provide services up to 18 years of age on a selective basis for children who are medically fragile or unable to attend school and access school-based supports (for example, children with tracheostomies, G-tubes, or other complex medical needs requiring in-home care).

Many of the children we serve have or are suspected of having autism. Our therapy for autistic children focuses on functional communication, with services designed to support young children and early communicators in developing meaningful language skills and, when appropriate, introducing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) such as touch-based devices or eye gaze systems. We do not provide diagnostic testing for autism; families seeking a formal autism diagnosis should consult with a medical or multidisciplinary team.

Family members or caregivers are required to be present and actively engaged in every session, as therapy success depends on learning and practicing techniques outside of visits; this ensures both effective carryover and a safe, supported environment for the child.
